About 100 meters of altitude below the house is the village of Caniço with shopping facilities, pharmacy and medical center, church, many small restaurants. The next restaurant is flat and within walking distance in about 300 meters (where also the public bus stops), all other localities and supermarkets are 100 meters lower, about 20 minutes walking distance. In about 5 minutes drive you can reach the seaside resort of Canico de Baixo with several possibilities to access the sea. The bay of Canico de Baixo is an underwater nature reserve and a well-known diving and snorkeling area. The ideal connection to the highway allows you to reach the airport or the center of the capital Funchal in about fifteen minutes. Golf courses are twelve and twenty minutes drive away respectively. A levada starts just below the house. All points and hiking areas of the island can be reached by car in a maximum of one hour, from therefore a rental car is highly recommended for your stay and the vacation home is the ideal starting point to discover the island.
